Nouveau DVD fraîchement sorti, réalisé par Will Hodgett. Excellent, pures images d’action, gros level, excellente bande son, beaux plans / paysages, une touche personnelle de Will Hodgett et une manière de filmer bien à lui avec des angles et des plans plus larges qu’on a vraiment apprécié.

La séquence de James Kates est une leçon de ride en finesse, quelle lecture de vague et quel touché! Grosse leçon de ride en suite à Pipe avec Ben Player, c’est juste trop bon. Puis du Mexique, du Hubb qui se fait plaisir à Zicatella, de la Nouvelle Zélande, du Tom Rigby en forme, du Bali (Canggu, Keramas, Padang) et pas mal d’autres spots.

Du bon wedge Australien ensuite avec Finlay et les kids, bref ça va vite, on en prend plein les mirettes et ça fait vraiment plaisir.

Même impression en regardant THE 8 qu’en regardant les videos No Friends à l’époque, c’est frais et ça change, c’est de la qualité.

Un seul regret: la vidéo est assez courte, on aurait voulu 2 séquences en plus!

The Riptide Experiment poru ceux qui ne connaissent pas c’est le magazine Riptide qui envoie certains des meilleurs riders au monde en trip quelque part (cette année c’est au Mentawai). Riptide faisait ça chaque année avant mais avait finalement arrêté de le faire. En 2013 ils ont relancé le concept et sont parti en trip avec:

Producing a whole mag and DVD in two weeks (which in this case turned out to be around five days) with an eclectic team of riders from around the world seems is a near-impossible task. The results are accordingly unlike anything else on the market, but damn if it doesn’t make for some compelling viewing. Ride the highs and lows of a trip that went anything but according to plan. It wasn’t always pretty, but like Sacha Specker says inside, “That’s what travel is”, and we couldn’t be more stoked we took a gamble in bringing the Experiment back. Bodyboarding needs big ideas and a sense of occasion. Resting on our laurels is something we refuse to do.
